INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time, engineers and supply chain professionals will be able to earn certification credits at the Indiana Logistics Summit. The Ports of Indiana is partnering with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the Indiana State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers to allow attendees of the Nov. 16-17 conference at the Indiana Convention Center to earn credits toward maintaining their respective certifications and licenses. Summit attendees who register in advance for these certifications can receive eight continuing education units for CSCMP’s SCPro certification and 5.5 professional development hours (PDH) from the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.

SCPro is a three-tiered program that assesses progressive knowledge and skills across supply chain activities and requires 60 CEUs and renewal every three years. Professional engineers in Indiana must earn 30 professional development hours within two years to retain their state-issued license. Summit participants must attend the full two-day conference to earn continuing education credits and should register online for their specific certification as part of the general event registration.

“The Indiana Logistics Summit serves an important role in providing education about logistics-related issues, and we’re continually looking for ways to increase the value of this conference for our attendees,” said Ports of Indiana Vice President Jody Peacock. “This annual conference hosts presentations by some of the foremost industry experts, and we are very pleased to now also offer continuing education credits for the engineers and supply chain professionals, who are such an important part of the logistics industry.”

The theme of the 14^th annual Indiana Logistics Summit is “Global Connections” and the event will feature more than 20 logistics industry experts with international perspectives for all modes of transportations. Discussions on global issues affecting U.S. markets, rail-truck-maritime industry updates, workforce challenges and strategies, and freight cost-saving measures will be presented by executives from the U.S. Maritime Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, Federal Aviation Administration, Celadon Group, Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana University Health and more. Political analyst and humorist Stuart Rothenberg will provide an interesting and entertaining recap of the national election and why the vote went the way it did during the Keynote Luncheon on Nov. 17.

A special celebration of Indiana’s international logistics and economic ties to countries around the world will take place at 5 pm on Nov. 16.
